This dress looks adorable. I think I just like it because it looks so Springy..

And then this sweater. I'd take the olive or the creme. It's beautiful. ohhhhhh la la

And who could forget the super stripe tee?! I have this one actually and I love it. It's long enough to be a dress, but if I tie of the ends a little bit, I can wear it over a slip, or jeans, and its just big and baggy and perfect. le love.

4. I went to dinner tonight with a couple of ladies I knew in LA who live here now. We all used to work together, and it's fun to think of old times, and reminisce.

Then my dad sent me some carnations in a glittery red box for christmas, and Adam for the first time got me flowers for christmas. They're from a little place around the corner that make amazingly gorgeous arrangements. He did good!

5. I'm truly thankful that i'm never without. without food, water, a place to sleep, or love. I'm constantly surrounded by everything I need, and for that I am thankful and grateful, and overjoyed. God's blessing on my life is more than I could hope or ask for. I only hope I can be a good steward of these blessings.

Tech Support Care Package

Google is the coolest. I've praised their work for several years now..and yet again, they've blown it out of the park. With this simple website, you can select videos about a number of different computer related tasks, and package it up, and send it off to your mom who can't for the life of her figure out how to video chat. See that? It's a screen shot of the website. you can now teach your grandma how to do that. genius. Teach Parents Tech

4. i love my family.

5. my customers. i had so many lovely, funny customers today. like this older woman who you could tell didn't care what anyone else thought, she loved being herself, and herself was silly. I was being so sarcastic and dry with her, and we were cracking each other up as her husband stood close by cracking a smile. or this other woman who has twins, but i've only ever met her son. He's 2, and he's my little buddy. we play while she shops, and we draw on pumpkins, and open all the secret drawers everywhere and pick out things we think his mom and sister would like. that's what i do at work. and it's so fun..

sweater stocking!

Adam has never spent Christmas away from his family, and therefore doesn't have a stocking!! I wanted to make one for him, and set in motion this lovely idea for a DIY "manly" stocking.

Items needed:
sweater of your choice
flannel, or other fun printed button up. (for a lining)
needle & thread (or a sewing machine)

1. cut out the shape of a stocking (i like short and fat vs. long and skinny) make sure you DON'T do what i did, and cut them the same way, they need to be facing opposite directions so when you put them together you have a front and a back, not 2 fronts. Do this with the sweater, and with your flannel.

2. sew the pieces together! Add whatever details you want. I took the cuff of the flannel, and made the top of the stocking. you could add bells, or ribbon, or buttons or someones name or fur or or or or or

3. hang on your mantle. (i didn't have enough light, so this is on my kitchen table) click the photo to see it big!

yes, i am aware my stocking has a pig on it. it's the one ive had since childhood. i love it.

Christmas mussssic

1. love. it feels good to love someone. like real love. like love that doesn't go away when you're mad. love that you can feel, even when you feel nothing. love that makes you feel sure about your life.

2. umbrellas. as a portlander, i stick out because i use an umbrella. people here wear normal shoes and coats and don't carry umbrellas and they get wet. like REALLY wet, because on days like today, its a monsoon outside, and monsoons make you wet. i wear my rainboots i got and love from circle thrift, my new raincoat my family for me for my birthday, and my umbrella. and i stay very very dry.

3. sleeping in. i've been working early all week but tomorrow...i don't go in til noon so im going to sleep in. and make pancakes in the morning with my babe.

4. birthday presents. meg got me a gift certificate for a pedicure at a spa near my house for my birthday. i haven't used it yet, and since its winter, and my feet are in socks and boots all the time, i wasn't sure if i would use it. so i called and they said i could use it towards another service. so i scheduled myself an hour massage on sunday. It's a treat, and im so excited!!

5. 30 days of thanks. im thankful i doing this because A) it's making me think about my blog more, and writing. and B) it's actually helped me work through some stuff, and im feeling alot better about life.

1. packages! I love getting mail. letters, boxes, things, postcards. I got one today and it's the best feeling.

2. my coworkers. the absence of meg, makes me miss her, and ive just been appreciative of the ladies i see on a regular basis at the store. they are all pretty much younger than me, but really fun and sweet and awesome.

3. shazam. this is my life: i don't recognize any song ever. this morning at work a song came on i loved, so i shazamed it. easy enough, great, now i know it's matt & kim (who i thought i didn't like) Then this evening, another song came on i liked. so i shazamed it. except it was the exact same song. again- i don't recognize any song ever.

4. Tea & coffee. I've gotten into a pretty mean rut of having coffee every morning. its not that great for you, and i hate how i get head aches when i don't have any, so today i switched to tea. Constant Comment Green Tea to be exact. I have lc to thank for finding out about constant comment. best tea.

5. Rain. I get to see alot of it here, but you know what, we have the prettiest, greenest city ever. its like a forest city. i have trees everywhere, and it smells clean and fresh all the time. I have the rain to thank for that. plus umbrellas are so fun. and so are rain boots. which im in the market for..

24 days of thanks

1. JOHN!! I am so so so thankful for him, and our friendship. He understands me, and handles me with such love and patience, even when im being a brat. we chatted last night about his london store opening, and i am BEYOND excited to plan that trip and be the "st. peter of JC events".

2. showers. i haven't had hot water for hmm about 5 days now, which means i washed my hair once with freezing cold water, which was possibly the most miserable thing i have ever done, and not washed anything else. ew. Since Lauren lives around the corner, she graciously let me come over and shower at her house. what a blessing.

3. unexpected phone calls. my regional visual manager called me today at work to check in, and let me know im on her mind and she really wants to get me into a display position. She told me I should think about getting myself into a market with more stores. i.e. northern california/seattle. interesting.

4. letting go. i can't force things to work. so it feels good to let it go, and let it happen if its going to.

28 days of thanks

1. delivery. plain and simple. a long day, now over at lauren's NEW house and we ordered pizzaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. don't even have to move to get it.

2. being complimented. today we got an email at work that was forwarded from our boss of bosses..like the HEAD honcho of stores. it was an email from a customer who came into our store, who I helped.

"Dear free people:

I am thankful for you. This past Thanksgiving I had to return some ill fitting boots I purchased from Free People.

I tried the sevens, I tried the eights, I cried and cried and finally decided to return before it was too late. I was visiting family in Portland and ventured for the first time into Store 00827. The manager in the store was so nice, professional, and helpful with my particular situation that I just have to give them an extra shout out.

Wow. In these hard economic times, I thought my free people purchases would dwindle to nothing, but now I will make an extra effort to order online. The human face this experience has given me is a smiling shiny free person. These girls were intelligent, caring and a great example of terrific customer service.

Bravo store 00827!!!"

to which my boss said:

"Portland ladies!!!! This made my day, no maybe season! So incredible!"

AND THEN..the manager of our Palo Alto store called and said she saw the pictures I posted today.(we post pictures every week to an online gallery for our district of our store and the merchandising) She wanted to tell me that she thought the visuals looked amazing, she was really impressed with how the store looked, and was going to replicate some of it in her store.

I was beaming today.

3. heat! due to annoying roommate situations which i will not go into detail about here, our gas got turned off..so while the rest of the house is cold, and can't use their stove, my lovely 3rd floor haven is toasty warm, and i can cook :)

4. Being appreciated. Every quarter at work, when we meet and exceed goals we've been given, we're rewarded. and it feels good. I got my reward this week, and I treated myself to a little shopping for this cold weather. being rewarded for working hard is such a lovely feeling.

5. lunch dates. Adam met me for lunch today, and we went fancy to papa haydn :) delicious everytime, it's only too bad we didn't have time for dessert. they're known to be the best! behold: the chocolate cube!

1. My job! I mean..i get to go to work, talk to women all day, play with clothes, and do crafts. what could be better? I also get to work for a lovely company that provides amazing benefits for me, plus other nice perks. like discounts. every month we get a handful of items an EXTRA percent off..and i tried this one on tonight. i actually thought I was going to hate it...but i LOVE it. I really want a new years dress for some reason, and think this might be the one. Do you love it? do you hate it? I ACTUALLY need opinions here..

I also get to do all the display stuff which means crafts, tools, and fun. Here is the holiday install i just did. soooooooo pretty. I love going into work every day!

2. CHRISTMAS!!!!!! Maybe it's because everything is sparkly, and it usually involves bundling up, and snow, and warm cozy drinks, and yummy smelling treats, and trees and and and..but mostly because it's the coming of our King. We all know how much I love birthdays, so this is like the king of birthdays!!!!!

3. I don't really like bragging, or talking about things im good at..but i have to say in the past month i have heard several times that my cupcakes are the best cupcakes anyone has ever tasted. that makes me feel really really good. i even dream about having a cupcake cart here in portland..there isn't one that i know of. a cute tiny one. with cute tiny treats with faces on them, on it!

4. this ring. I got it last year in the mail from my friend laura. it's my favorite ring to wear during the holidays, and today meg said "it should just be your celebration ring!" I guess I should wear it more often then just the month of december. It is kind of the BEST!

5. Surprises. As I went on my break this evening, Adam and I were walking up to Urban, and this new couple who have been going to our community were walking down the street towards us. Ben and Jamie just moved here from Texas, and she is just about the most hilarious girl, and Ben's super nice. They were in the neighborhood and were gonna stop by the store to say hey. What a lovely thing. I love visitors and surprises, and it's just such a simple thing that makes me so happy. Yea for lovely people!
